This is the location of the Fitzroy community’s lovely outdoor pool, brilliant all year round. I haven’t done a lot of research on Fitzroy Baths (now Yarra Leisure) yet, but this is some information from a few sources. Roach and Boardman were Coach and Wagon builders in Fitzroy North at the corner of Fergie Street and Brunswick St, Fitzroy North. The first records of Roach & Boardman advertising was in May 1898.
146 George St, Fitzroy
“To Cab Proprietors, Dairymen, and Others” proclaimed the papers on 27 November 1862 as the land at 146 George Street, Fitzroy (then 93 George Street), was advertised to go under the hammer a week following. “First opened in 1854 the hotel seems to have been built in two stages.
