In 1895, J. J. Gordon advertised in Perth as a costume manufacturer on the corner of Gertrude and Gore Streets, Fitzroy, Victoria. In 2005, costumes had returned under the eye of Rose Chong. (Sourced: Fitzroy Heritage Society, April 2005 Newsletter)

Rose Chong 1980 – today

“Rose emigrated from the UK in 1974 with her Australian-Chinese mathematician husband Min Chong… From 1980 Ms Chong purchased all the fabulous costumes from Pokey’s the drag institution that ran from 1977-92 at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Fitzroy Street, St Kilda” (Fitzroy History Society Newsletter – Richard Peterson, November 2022)
