No.4 (part) and No.2.No.2: Survey classified it as “A sticking and very attractive house, good brick”. Notices in window: “This house not for sale to Housing Commission” and a poster for Gabriella Orenstein, anti-Housing Commission candidate in August 1971 elections (Urban Renewal Committee of Citizens Action Group). Taken within the block Church Street-Rae Street- Nicholson Street.

Targeted by Housing Commission, Victoria for broad scale demolition and construction of high rise apartment blocks. This was opposed by residents, both tenants and owners and factories. This campaign was a turning point in public housing policy and practice in Victoria. (Text from Yarra Libraries)
