This property was originally constructed probably in 1866, for Samuel Gillott, a solicitor, who occupied the house until 1900. In later years it became known as “Dodgshun House” and is now the “Mary of the Cross Centre”.
“It is a grand Corinthian-Tuscan Villa with arcaded verandah to the east front, and elaborate architectural treatment of the south or garden façade (in contrast to the plain north wall). The central part of the front wall, and the gatehouse are of early 20th century date.” (National History Database)
