Why, oh Why did they paint / destroy the façade of this building. The original brick is so so urban and the windows with their bluestone ledges and the end building with its windows and doors.

I worked at AW Patrick Badge factory in the little cottage at 440 Rae St during school holidays in 60s. run by my uncle Ron Russell. He was the brother-in-law of Arthur WIlliam Patrick who died May 30 1954. Ron ran the business from about 1960 until it was sold c1980 to Patrick Brothers Australia in North Melbourne after a few managers had swindled my aunt. I can recall visiting here in early 50s as a kid and trucks would park at rear Moss St to unload Tomatoes and the aroma of cooking tomato sauce wafted over the neighborhood. After I left school, I would work there at times and buy “West Indies Lime Cordial” from Mrs Eddington in that little door on RHS. I knew Alf McMillan and some of the engineers there. They made excellent drill presses and machines that cast sand mouldings for engine parts.
