The buildings around this end of Palmer Street have been replaced, and I haven’t yet found images of the factories and buildings that were located here originally.
In May 1919, the company Q P Manufacturing was registered (Daily Commercial News and Shipping List). By January 1920, the building at 21 Palmer Street was registered with Council as a factory for the purpose of making polishes and soft soap, registered to the Company. They employed two males. (Fitzroy City Press, 10 January 1920, p.2)

In 1924, the Company introduced ‘Blacko’, which was a polish for treatment of suede shoes. They advertised that the colour would not come off on the hands or clothes and that any coloured suede or undressed leather shoes could be made ‘black’. (Ferntree Gully News, 12 April 1924, p.2)
