Greeves Street, Fitzroy

The West part of Greeves Street from Mahoney Street to Brunswick Street was originally named ‘Mary Street’, but was changed to Greeves Street in 1895.

In 1870 Alfred ‘Fritz’ Kursteiner designed 14 cottages and 2 two storey houses in Mary Street Fitzroy and then in 1871 designed a further 16 cottages and 4 stone houses in the same street. These houses are located from 1-30 Greeves Street (single storey cottages) and also include 310, 311, 312, and 313 Fitzroy Street and also numbers 4 and 14 Mahoney Street, Fitzroy, which are all two storey (Alfred Friedrich Kursteiner, Dr John J. Taylor, April 2014).
