This latest building on this site looks to have been built in the 1980s, as you can see from the bottom picture, but it had quite a history getting to this position. Initially it was a two storey building rising to about half the height of the Belvedere hotel next door.

Corner of Victoria Parade and Brunswick St, Fitzroy, 1889. This is a zoomed in part of F. W. Niven’s Lithograph and depicts Brunswick St heading North. The Commercial Hotel(formerly the Belvidere Hotel) is on the north west corner of Brunswick and Victoria Parade and number 75 is the little building to its left.
Beautiful photo taken from the Balance Architecture blog. I have included this picture because you can see a new 3 storey building that was built here somewhere in between the 1920s and 1980s.
In 1920, Richard Bayford applied to the Health and Public Works Committee to operate a motor car repair shop here, employing 9 males.
