127-129 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy (Brunswick Hotel)

Originally built in 1849 and known as the Brunswick Family Hotel until 1861, this hotel is now the site of a couple of restaurants. The building was rebuilt in 1859 to the design of Austin & co) (South Fitzroy Conservation Study, 1979, p.18)

From 1861 to 1906 it was the Brunswick Hotel (Hotels of Fitzroy to 1906, Nicola Piccolo, 1971).

In the 1970s the hotel was known as the “Old Colonial” (Hotels of Fitzroy to 1906, Nicola Piccolo, 1971).
