121-123 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy

This sad and sorry looking building, was once incredibly pretty. You can only just see the touches of the features this building once had along the parapet where there is an ornate dentillation with rosettes.

The image below shows the pretty treatment the old windows had, three panels and a giant hood over each. The awning was added when Messrs. Davies and Steel, drapers, extended their business from 117-119 Brunswick Street to also incorporate 121-123. But while this building makes me sad, next door link above, is really sad!

  1. My father was born above this shop in February 1926. His father ran the grocery shop downstairs, employing WWI veterans who were too damaged to work at labouring or any factory .
